Evonik Degussa plans to stop inspecting the 100000 ton/year MMA device in Shanghai
Evonik Degussa (China) is planning to stop the 100000 ton/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) device in Shanghai in mid April as a period of two weeks to keep clean (clean after each experiment); In addition, the company will stop the device for major overhaul at the end of the year
Evonik has completed the capacity expansion of PMMA downstream of Shanghai device, from 18-20 thousand tons/year to 40 thousand tons/year. After the capacity expansion of PMMA device, Evonik will increase the self consumption of MMA. Since the beginning of February, the company has started to operate the expanded PMMA device in the next 3 (5) years. MMA is used to produce PMMA polymer, cast plastic plate, acrylic acid for coating and lotion. It adopts the structure of two plate mold locking with high thermal deformation temperature (190 ℃) to reduce the weight of all mold locking parts by 30%
